The University of Religions and Denominations currently offers 17 combined coursework and research PhD programs. More combined PhD programs will also be established in the near future. These programs are in line with the regulations and decisions made by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran. Therefore, the final degree conferred to the students is approved by this ministry.
The combined PhD programs at the University of Religions and Denominations currently host 892 Iranian and 130 international students. Also, 345 Iranian and 6 international students have graduated from these programs. Holding a master’s degree or an equivalent is required to be enrolled in these programs. For international applicants, the equivalent of a master’s degree must be approved by the Iranian Consulate at the country of graduation.
The classes will be held in Persian, English, and Arabic. Those applicants who speak other languages must hold a language certificate proving their proficiency in any of these languages. In the combined coursework and research PhD programs, the faculty members of the department hold a 30-minute, in-person (or online upon applicant’s request) interview with the applicant as part of the application review.
All classes, final exams, and student dissertation defense sessions will be held in-person. The students must attend the university at any of these stages. Not holding citizenship of the Islamic Republic of Iran and no legal prohibition of residing in the country are necessary for registering in these programs. The combined PhD degree is completed in 4 years and the total fee for this program is $8000. The fee covers the student’s educational costs and does not include living expenses such as food and accommodations.
